There are few things more relaxing than the pop of a fresh cork and a nice glass of wine. Some wineries have taken that sentiment and responded: Challenge Accepted. These bastions of healthy imbibement are taking your drinking and relaxation experience to the next level with yoga in the vineyards. Come and enjoy the unique architecture and stunning natural beauty that wine country has to offer. Nothing is more rejuvenating than yoga in the vines.

Many of the vineyards and wineries listed below offer year-round vineyard winery, but others you may have to wait a couple months before you can become one with the Pinot.

Castoro Cellars

Where: Templeton, CA

When: January 21, February 11, March 18.  9:00 am.

Price: $30.

Perks: Includes a complimentary brunch after class. 15% discount on wine purchases for the rest of the day.

Types of wine available: Wide range of wines from common to obscure. Sparkling Blanc de Blancs, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Falanghina, Carignane and Pinot Gris among others.

Must try bottle: 2015 Cabernet Dorsa. Always a pleasure to discover those lesser known varietals, Cabernet Dorsa is a German grape crossing of Dornfelder and Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark, opulent plum and baking chocolate notes are balanced nicely with green pepper and strawberry jam.

Folktale Winery and Vineyards


Where: Carmel-by-the-sea, CA

When: Every Saturday.  10:00 am.

Price: $20.

Perks: Includes a complimentary glass of wine after class.  Different events almost every day gives plenty of reasons to come back!

Types of wine available: Sparkling, Burgundy and Rhône varietals.

Must try bottle: NV Brut Rosé. Produced using the Charmat (Tank) Method, this beautiful bottle of bubbles is light and refreshing. Rose, kiwi, and raspberry delivered over a lively mousse make for the perfect end to an invigorating yoga session.

Emeritus Vineyards

Where: Sebastopol, CA

When: February 10, May 19, July 21, October 6. 10:15 am.

Price: $30.

Perks: Includes a complimentary tasting with cheese and crackers after class.

Types of wine available: Pinot Noir.

Must try bottle: 2014 Hallberg Ranch Pinot Noir. Entirely dry farmed, this gift of nature has a delightfully velvety, mouthwatering texture. The bouquet is reminiscent of wildflowers and cherry blossom with a wonderful blueberry touch to the palate.

Vesco Ridge Winery

Where: West Chazy, NY

When: Every Thursday.  May 3 – September 27. 5:30 pm.

Price: $10.

Types of wine available: Cool climate blends, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Marquette.

Must try Bottle: Sweet Harmony. Delightful dessert wine with rounded white florals and a lingering finish.

Bartholomew Park Winery

Where: Sonoma, CA

When: Second Sunday of the month. May 13 – October 14. 10:30 am.

Price: $60.

Perks: Includes a complimentary food and wine pairing after class. Beautiful, extensive gardens on property are perfect for a post-yoga stroll.

Types of wine available: Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, and Syrah

Must try bottle: 2014 Estate Vineyard Zinfandel. Extraordinary bottle of Zin with a long history to the vineyard. The fruit is dark and intense with huckleberry, blueberry and blackberry all radiating from the glass. Toast and vanilla rest over a balanced mouthfeel and lingering finish.

Comstock Wines

Where: Healdsburg, CA

When: First Sunday of each month. 9:00 am.

Price: $40, $35 for wine club members.

Perks: Includes a complimentary flight of Comstock wines with breakfast after class.

Types of wine available: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel.

Must try bottle: 2012 Dry Creek Zinfandel. Luscious red with spicy clove, nutmeg, and brooding, dark fruit. Plum, fig, and black cherry characterize this Zinfandel. Profits from the 2012 Dry Creek Zinfandel help North Coast fire relief.
